The One Day International (ODI) series between Australia and India has just concluded, with the Australian men’s team winning, but numerous records were made during the series. The series ended with the score line of 2-1; however, this score line doesn’t mean that the Australian team is the dominant one, as each match in this series saw fierce competition. We will now talk about the records that were tumbled during this series.

Cricket Records Made During the Australia-India Men’s ODI Series

  1. Rohit Sharma Entered the 500 International Players’ Club

During the first ODI between Australia and India’s men’s teams, Rohit Sharma became the 11th player to play 500 internationals (all international formats combined) and the fifth Indian player to do so after Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli. Many of you will say What’s the big deal in playing 500 internationals? Well, he entered this list at the age of 38, which is a record in itself.

Rohit Sharma has contributed so much to the Indian team, and he started playing in the Indian colours in 2007. And now we are in 2025, which is more than 18 years, and playing for 18 years shows his longevity and love for the sport.

Why does it matter?

Playing 500 international cricket matches is not a walk in the park because to play this many matches, you need to be fit both physically and mentally. When Rohit Sharma took the cricket field at Perth cricket stadium on 19th October 2025, it became a major personal milestone for him to represent the Indian flag. The match was later cut short due to rain interruptions; however, the rain interruptions didn’t stop the Indian team from giving competition to the Australian team.

Just like for Rohit Sharma, this series was also special for betting sites like MelbetIndia.org as they have got the opportunity to grab the attention of bettors to wager on their favorite players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on the Australian soil for probably the last time.

  1. Rohit Equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s Centuries Record against Australia

During the India-Australia ODI series, Rohit not just entered the 500 internationals club but he also equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI hundreds against Australia. When he scored the hundred in the third ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground, he equaled Sachin’s 9 ODI centuries record; however, Sachin took 70 innings to do so, but Rohit did it in 49 innings.

Rohit’s hundred in the third ODI was his sixth hundred against Australia, which is the most by a visiting batter in the country. It just indicates how favorite Australian pitches are for Rohit, who just loves batting in the Australian conditions.

  1. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Equalled Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid’s Record

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who cricket fans know as RoKo, equaled another record during the third ODI between India and Australia. They equaled Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid’s record of playing in 391 matches across all formats. When Rohit and Virat take the field next time, they will just break this record.

Playing this many matches together shows their longevity and love for the game. Apart from playing this many matches together, they came in third position on the list of most century stands in ODIs during the third ODI against Australia, where they stitched an unbeaten 168-run stand to take the Indian team across the winning line. Now they are just behind Sri Lanka’s Dilshan and Sangakkara, who have 20 century stands, while Sachin and Ganguly, the Indian pair, are in the first position, having shared 26 century stands between them.

Who is next in Line after RoKo?

The current period has been a transition period for Indian cricket, where Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are now playing only in one format, as they retired from the longest format, i.e., the Test format, in May 2025. While they already bid adieu to the shortest format, i.e., T20, last year after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.

There is a question for cricket fans as they are waiting for who will take the onus of making the Indian team cross the winning line once RoKo bids adieu to the ODI format. It may be Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill or Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Verma. Shubman Gill is already captaining the Indian team in two formats, which are Tests and ODIs. During the 2025 India-England Test series in England, Shubman’s first series as captain, he showed his character by drawing the series 2-2.

After drawing the test series in England, Shubman Gill won the test series against the West Indies 2-0. The Australia-India ODI series in Australia was also an exciting one, and let’s see how this transition goes, and we can expect RoKo to continue for at least 2-3 years.
