Litton Das

Before their Asia Cup Super Fours encounter with India in Dubai, Bangladesh encountered a setback in wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das being ruled out with a side strain. Not only did Bangladesh lose experience to its batting order, and therefore by consequence in their playing XI, but they also had to shuffle their playing XI. Jaker Ali took over the captaincy duties for the first time in T20Is while also wearing the gloves.

In his debut as captain, Jaker Ali won the toss and opted to bowl first, with the hope that his bowlers could trouble a settled Indian batting lineup early. There were no changes for India, maintaining faith with the squad that had performed consistently through the tournament.

Bangladesh had made four changes, with Parvez Hossain Emon coming back into the side and expected to partner Tanzid Hasan at the top of the order as Saif Hasan moved down to No. 3. In the bowling stocks, Mahedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, and Shariful Islam were replaced with leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, pace bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and seam bowling allrounder Mohammad Saifuddin, who was playing for the first time in this tournament. This ranged the lineup with the broader change to the team, with a view to bring variation and fresh energy to provide Bangladesh with a better bowling attack.

India Playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah

Bangladesh Playing XI: Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Shamim Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

Bangladesh lost a big pillar in Litton Das, as his veteran and upper-middle presence often help anchor his batting performances. As a result, the pressure doesn’t just fall on the younger top order, it falls on a new captain. India is yet to make a change to their balance for a second match in straight, showing confidence in Suryakumar and their XI as they maintain the Super Fours momentum.
