Pakistan Qualify for Super Eight of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026

Pakistan secured their spot in the Super Eight of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a comfortable 102-run win over Namibia in their final Group A match at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground on debuting venue – Colombo. The emphatic victory ensured Pakistan’s qualification and completed the line-up for the Super Eight.

India and Pakistan got through from Group A, and Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from Group B. West Indies and England advanced from Group C, while South Africa and New Zealand qualified from Group D, bringing the group stage of the tournament to an end and paving way for the Super Eight phase which will see the eight remaining teams broken into two groups of four.

In the Super Eight round, Group 1 will consist of India, Zimbabwe, West Indies and South Africa, while Group 2 will feature England, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Each team will face the other teams in its group once, starting the stage with zero points, as no points or net run rate from the first round will be carried forward. The top two teams from each group will earn places in the semi-finals.

On Saturday, Super Eight stage for Pakistan will start against New Zealand at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The first semi-final will be held on March 4 at the end of this round. If Pakistan make it that far, the match will be in Colombo; if not, the game will be brought forward to Kolkata. The venue for the second semi-final, to be held on March 5, will be Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and if India qualify, they would play that game.

The concluding match, should Pakistan qualify for the final or else it will be played in Ahmedabad. A reserve day has been scheduled for both the semi-finals and final to intervene in case of any rain-related disruption.

All Super Eight teams have gained automatic qualification to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. As co-hosts, Australia will automatically qualify despite missing out on the Super Eight in 2026. The final three automatic spots for 2028 will be determined by the ICC T20I rankings as of March 9, 2026 and would go to Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Ireland. The remaining eight places at the 20-team 2026 tournament will be decided in regional qualifying tournaments.
